Huws Returns as U23s Host Sheffield Wednesday
Tuesday, 26th Mar 2019 10:49

Midfielder Emyr Huws returns to U23s action for the first time since August as the young Blues face Sheffield Wednesday at Playford Road this afternoon (KO 1pm).

Wales international Huws, 25, has been out of first-team action since December 2017 when he suffered a knee injury which required surgery and has been hit by a number of minor setbacks as he has sought to make his return this season.

Tristan Nydam and Idris El Mizouni are also set to be involved for Town’s table-topping U23s, who will all but secure a place in the Professional Development League Two South play-offs if they beat the Owls, who are seventh in the North section and are coached by former Blues left-back Neil Thompson.

Gerard Nash and Chris Hogg's side go into today’s game five points ahead of second-placed Crystal Palace and eight ahead of Coventry City in third.

A Blues victory would leave the Sky Blues, who play at Bristol City on Friday afternoon, requiring maximum points from their final four games to stand any chance of finishing ahead of Town.

U23s: Egan, Cotter, Webber, C Smith, Ndaba (c), Huws, Hughes, Nydam, El Mizouni, Simpson, K Brown. Subs: Alley, McGavin, Clements, Foudil, T Smith.

Fantastic. I would be glad for Adeyemi to leave but would love Emyr to get this career back on track in a similar way to Teddy. Just imagine Teddy, Emyr, Andre, Jon Nolan, Flynn, A fit Grant Ward? Nydam... I've probably missed some more but how bloody good is that!

Make or break time .If it goes wrong again can see town getting rid of him.

Sad but true, Emyr is way too good for League 1 IF FIT. Given he won't have the chance now to show he is capable of playing consistently for a season, that he is still under contract, and presumably feels some sort of obligation to Town for his rehab then this is POTENTIALLY great news.

As much as we would all love Emyr to get his health right as a priority for him personally, him being fit and playing regularly could make the difference re automatic promotion at first attempt.

Good luck Emyr, be well, stay well and let's get you ready for a pre-season and for some rejuvenated times at Portman Road next season regardless of which Division we are in.

Would be the perfect replacement for Chalobah next season.

If fit.

This is what happens when you shop in the bargain bin full of sick notes, cast offs and players who other clubs aren't prepared to take a gamble on. Nothing against Emyr and a terrific player when fit.

Time to get the cotton wool out!
Would be great if we could keep him fit for a prolonged period as certainly has quality but you can't help but worry he won't get crocked again at some point in the not too distant future.

Fingers crossed he comes through. I think a season in League 1 nursing him back could be good for both player and club.

Wow !! The potential to put out a really very very good side is actually now staring us in the face.
In our judgement Adeyemi could be a very real asset. : what little we've seen was of a fit athlete , who brought undoubted enthusiasm and a great leap !!
But let's simply hope PL is rewarded for all his hard work and finds himself blessed with talent and youth consistently available ; such circumstance would enable Town to capitalise on some excellent footballing promise in recent matches .
